can you take a cat's temperature using an oral glass thermometer?
My cat has herpes and has a secondary infection. He had a slight fever (103) this morning at the vet’s office. I started him on antibiotics but he is feeling very warm. There are no stores open now to go buy a rectal thermometer, but I have an oral glass one. Is it safe to use? I need to know if I need to cool him down.
And I mean use the oral thermometer rectally. Not in his mouth.

Which thermometer is right?
I’ve been watching my temp to give info to my doc about the kidney infection to see if it lets up.
My ear thermometer says 99.6
My oral thermometer says 97.7
lol those are totally different…which is right?
Woops 97.9 not 97.7
*if you saw my other question, were not even sure its a kidney infection but we’ll just say it is for the moment.

*I re-checked it. Ear said 98.8 now and oral says 98.0

Lower than average body temperature for prolonged period?
I’ve been tracking my body temperature with an oral thermometer for the last few weeks. I read that normal body temperature fluctuates from between 97.5 to 99.5 degrees, but mine seems to average out at about 96.3
