Can I use a baby ear thermometer to take adult temperature?
Ok I want to buy a thermometer to take temperature.
My question is dose the device like an ear thermometer vary among infants and adults? The reason is I found one device with positive reviews but it seems to be used mostly with infants. Would it still function the same with adults?
Perhaps you could recommend one? I plan to take a couple methods of reading from oral, ear and arm pit and average the readings. So I’ll be buying a couple thermometer devices. Just curious if the ear thermometer would vary much in readings from adult to infant.
I don’t think it would but just had to ask.
Thank you so much for your input.

having problems with an ear thermometer….?
A friend gave me her old thermomscan ear thermometer and no instruction booklet. It has two settings (rectal indicator) for infant toddler and (oral indicator) for child/adult. Both of which is suppose to be taken by ear. Which of the two is the temperature that I would have to add one degree to find the true temperature of the child? I get two different readings when I take the temperature. Also at which point is a temperature a concern for the emergency room for a 4 year old?

ear thermometer showing weird readings?
I bought an ear thermometer today (a reli-on) and we cannot seem to get it to work. It beeps, then I take it out, but the F is still flashing and the temp is very low (my boyfriend’s was 93.4, mine 96.6), but when taken with an oral, his was 98.5 and mine was 99.4… I am just wondering if I am doing something wrong with the ear one or if it is broken? Thanks…
Okay, I tried it again, and one ear said 99 and the other 100.4… should I just find the average? LOL

Which thermometer is right?
I’ve been watching my temp to give info to my doc about the kidney infection to see if it lets up.
My ear thermometer says 99.6
My oral thermometer says 97.7
lol those are totally different…which is right?
Woops 97.9 not 97.7
*if you saw my other question, were not even sure its a kidney infection but we’ll just say it is for the moment.
*Its a Braun Thermoscan btw…
*I re-checked it. Ear said 98.8 now and oral says 98.0
Thanks guys. Looks like there’s no need to panick!
